When I was reading The Paper Magician I truly was taken into a world of magic. This is a book that uses so much detail that you could practically imagine exactly what every scene looks like as a movie, down to the color of the pot in the corner. It is written very well and has so much emotion behind it, specifically anger and love.

Ceony Twill is a girl that lives in a world of magic. Not everybody can do magic but some can. She went to a school for the magically inclined and learned all she needed to know to become a magician. But you can only do magic with one material such as glass or metal. 

Normally you have a choice and she was going to choose glass but they were running out of paper macitian mentors so she was assigned to paper. From there she met her new mentor Emary and learned for many months before running into their first sense of danger. A dark illegal magic called blood magic. Where she fought to save Emary’s life.

I love this book because It reminds me of a quicker paced harry potter book, A book I enjoyed reading and watching. You can really tell that the writer is good at writing character development and emotional parts of the story. You get a sense of what Ceony twill and Emary Thain felt in this book, specifically their fear, Joy, and Sadness. One thing I wish Charlie N. Holmberg did differently as she didn’t write from different perspectives later in the book. She needed to show what both characters were doing so she put the name of the character next to the chapter and switched whose eyes we were looking through in the book. Specifically Ceony Twill and Emary Thain.

Long story short I loved this book and hope you end up reading it. It is written very well using things like good characterization, lots of detail, and a lot of emotion. It is a very interesting book and is definitely worth your time.
