when i should fear
i’ve found a girl who makes my heart balloon--
and when she laughs, i fall in love again.
to see her smile, i’d trade away the moon!
and by that smile-- so moonstruck i’d remain.
what’s wrong with me? what is there to repent?
my happiness, you’d rather i deny?
is ‘normal’ love more holy, heaven-sent?
what boy could love this girl as much as i?
but by all means, condemn me! bring me shame
for loving her; i’ll take you as you come.
i’m brave enough to love you all the same;
i’m full enough of love to lend you some.
let time forgive the world for hating me:
to love, when i should fear, is to be free.
