Nightmare
What now? The wide azure sky above spreads
And mirrors the endless sea that paves by
As the breeze lightly brushes our foreheads
We gazed on deck as seagulls swoop and fly.
Out from west, blankets roll across the sky
Waves thrust, raindrops blow, as clouds dark as night
Surround our feeble ship. Mighty wind’s cry
Resonates in the abyss without sight.
Thunder enters the theater of our fright
And drums on as our engine wimps and spats
Our sailor, dazed by a flash harshly bright
Yanks as we tilt to the prancing waves. “Rats”,
Cries all, as we tumble into the black,
But wake up panting, lying on my back.
