"Life is a journey to be experienced, not a problem to be solved." -Winnie the Pooh

Autumn is falling under winter’s spell.
Leaves begin to lose their lively color,
falling to the ground, bidding a farewell.
Winter’s coming: day’s shorter, hopes smaller.
Summer trees grasp fall’s leaves, “Don’t go,” they say,
but summer cannot hold on forever,
fore winter’s cold wind blows the leaves away,
gone to winter- a risky endeavor.
The winter is cold; the summer is warm,
and the autumn can choose either weather,
but it always chooses a winter storm;
summer and autumn can’t be together.
Autumn then falls into winter’s cold hands,
succumbing to winter’s icy demands.

The author's comments:

This poem symolizes loss. As autumn turns to winter, it reflects less and less of summer's warm qualities; days become shorter and colder. Although the sun tries to warm autumn, autumn ultimately and inevitably becomes cold winter.
