drowning
I breathe in deeply the satisfying air
and begin to accept my falling fate
although the light so beautiful and fair
a darker beauty is what I await
I start to fall with my eyes locked shut
afraid to see what the near future holds
but into the dark I carelessly strut
deceived by thoughts of glory and gold
as I sink deeper the light starts to fade
and I realize how close I was to death
I ache with regret for mistakes I made
and scrambled up for a breathe
my eyes have now opened I'm no longer blind
never again will I drown in your lies
