The Land of Pumpkin Trees
I know a place that’s perfect
Where you can do whatever you please
Where wrong is right, where day is night
Where pumpkins grow on trees
I know a place where heroes
Don’t always win the fight
Where sturdy mountains crumble
Yet everything is alright
A place where the echoes of loving words
Drift off into the ether
Where laughter paints flowers on grey old walls
And summer lasts forever
Many of you won’t believe this
You’ll say it’s all in my head
You’ll roll your eyes or roll a fist
And return to your mediocre lives instead
Although a few are willing
To poke their heads in the clouds
I’ll bet you a dime and a shilling
Even that won’t erase all their doubts
It’s a pity and it’s horrible
That I’m the only one who ever sees
The place where all is possible
And honest to God…
Where pumpkins grow on trees!
