Missing Father
Through the trees and past the brush
Is where I lost my dad
Day is long, no need to rush
The fun we could have had
His look was stained with pain and stress
My joy was turning bleak
Until those words flew out his chest
Hey boy I’ll hide you seek
I close my eyes and start to count
His steps I could not hear
And in those woods, by my account
It all was coming clear
Up the creek and by the brook
The place that was the start
At the edge I had to look
The spot that we were parked
But what I saw had made me stop
For he could not atone
The car was gone and dear old pop
Had left me all alone
