By the soles of her shoes
Her heart on the track
And her eyes on the prize
The clanking of her medals
A symbol of
Strength
Dedication
Perseverance
Glory
But a medal hasn't been added
In a very long time
Try as she may
Her feet drag through the mud
Personal records now
Just a distant memory
The silence of her medals
A symbol of
Solemnity
Submission
Failure
Weakness
And serves as a reminder
Of what once was
