The Wall
They want to build a Wall
Across the border of Mexico
But why stop there?
Build the Wall around Florida,
To keep out the Cubans.
Build the Wall around the East Coast,
To keep out the Russians,
And Japanese,
And English,
And Italians,
To keep out all of Europe.
Build the Wall across the Canadian border,
To keep out the Canadians.
Build a bridge to Alaska,
With the Wall hanging in the sky.
Build a bridge to Hawaii,
With the Wall running across the Pacific.
Why would we need immigrants?
It’s not like they bring new culture,
New clothes and music and religion.
They don’t do anything but steal our jobs,
Hurt our kids, take our opportunities.
The Wall would stop that.
There would be no immigrants.
Just Americans.
Staring proudly at the Statue of Liberty
As her eyes peer over the Wall.
“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses
yearning to breathe
Free,
the wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp
beside the golden door!”
The Wall of Freedom.

All of the talk about building The Wall lately has been making me more and more irritated. I recently saw a picture of the beginning of the construction of The Wall and I finally had to let out some of my anger, the result was this poem.
