Forsaken Love
To me, she was the best mistake I ever made
She poisoned my mind, she ruptured my heart
She silenced my speech, she discouraged my spirit
But I cannot help but love her
What’s wrong with me?
Though she is no longer in my presence,
She permanently resides in my thoughts
Even with my immense pain,
The world continues to spin
And the children continue to play,
The sun continues to set
And the moon continues to rise,
The leaders continue to lead
And the followers continue to follow.
And the people continue to live
Life goes on, but I am, now, defective
But I cannot help but love her
What’s wrong with me?
People sing songs of love, but I do not hear it
I no longer want to hear it
I no longer want to hear of what could have been
She permanently resides in both my conscious
and unconscious self,
Stealing my memories and awareness
But I cannot help but love her
What’s wrong with me?
