Grace Child
So
It has come to this
Looking upward with doubtful, untrusting eyes
She wants to believe, oh she wants to
But there have been too many lies
A broken trust
A broken faith
Like a puppy that's been injured
Her eyes speak of deep wariness
Too many times
Too many lies
Too many I love you and goodbyes
Cuz honestly
A part of me
Cries out for this child
Treasure of heaven
She has not known
The reason why she was left alone
No-one to hold
And call her own
Child of his
He left behind like a byword and hiss
Surely his fists she will not miss
Daughter of grace
She did not understand
And ran so fast to clutch a hand
Now she will never trust a man
I'm reaching out
I won't let go
But I guess she does not know
That I've been broken
That I've been lost
I learned that trusting had a cost
Too many lies
Too many times
Too many I love you and goodbyes
Cuz honestly
A part of me
Knows we are just alike
In desperate means to survive
We sent trusting on a hike
Oh, little girl
Please turn to me
I hate to see you hurt
Please take my hand and wipe your tears
You I'll never desert
Til you can look with trusting eyes
Without a dredge of fear
Oh, precious sunbeam
Little lamb
I promise I'll be here
