Alleycats
hand in hand we
climb over the strawberry bushes
slink down the rotting streets
after dark when the ghosts
have come out raindrops
falling through the vibrant
dance with me will you
sing in the sultry summer
air under the nighttime spatula
greases the brick-lined roads in
fluid orange light you are
curved hip royalty
sweaty makeup a matted dress
after steak too young wine
in the desperate heat you
draw me closer away
from scintillating city lights soft
leather purses on the asphalt
the sky is filled with princess-cut diamonds
you have hid from me
until now
