Second Chances
I don't believe in free second chances
I believe in consequences
And affirmative
Action
I believe that justice and mercy
Can never be reconciled
To create
"Morality"
And that you got what you had
Coming to you;
Until I'm found upended by
My own inequities
And burdened by fees that can only
Be paid in
Forgiveness;
I come to know what love is
For another person,
Instead of love for the
System,
Because we all fall short of the jury's
Approval,
But their verdict condemns
Each other
And the judge was human once,
Too.
