Sipping Coke out of bottles from straws
Is how we pass the day
Away,
Not caring for the carbonation or the
Sweet sugar,
Just restless for the high that
Sugar brings;
Too in control to try the real drugs
And too lost to be content
With peace,
We search for that summer day fill with
Candy-coated laughter,
Forgetting any natural
Energy
That ran through our veins
Before.
