We Are More Than the Sum of Our Parts
The wings are in abeyance
In that split second between beats, even of a hummingbird,
There is a pause
And between every click of a camera as well,
When we decide whether we'll fall
And assess our current
Frame of
Mind,
Where we'll either soar up high
Or plummet
Down,
And time stops for a moment between the
Open
Close
Of the shutter,
An instant held, suspended, reflected on,
Immortalized,
And so maybe those instantaneous
Milliseconds of our lives
Are more important than we think,
If they determine each individual consecutive scene
In what we perceive
To be the flawlessly continuous, whole,
Fast forwarded movie
Called Life—
Because, just maybe, the fragments and memories are pieces
To a puzzle,
The one we're scrambling to put together and form a clear picture
Of who exactly,
We are,
But...
"We are more than the sum of our parts."
