With Her Own Bloody Hands
He swims swiftly, one way
Then the other
Tail flicking one way,
Then the other
A fish whose scales
Flash in the sun
Many come to gaze
Hover near the edge
On the slick rocks of the slope
Many fall
And drown
Fall
And drown
He walks slowly, one way
Then the other
Head turning one way,
Then the other
A boy whose eyes
Flash like the sea
Many come to gaze
Hover by the edge
He leaves a trail of broken hearts
Many fall
In love
Fall
And drown
Her heart is broken
Not by him
She ripped it out
With bloody hands
Her own bloody hands
Kept it in a chest
Locked away
Safe
Her heart is not his to break
Not today
For you can’t break
A gaping hole
She can’t hold him back
As he holds
One half of each heart
And snaps each in too
But she may rest
Knowing
Her heart is locked away
Safe
For she ripped out her heart
With her
Own
Bloody
Hands
