Take Me Back
Take Me Back
Take me back,
to the days when my mom woke me up,
couldn’t spill because I had the Sippy cup,
no responsibilities,
just worried about being happy.
I didn’t know how to hate,
when I could relate,
to anyone and everyone,
could not see color,
only wanted to color,
in my book of cartoons.
Content with only cereal,
for every meal,
never made my own food,
people didn’t care if I was nude.
saw a piece of candy and could not resist,
time did not exist,
played all day,
could find a way,
through any obstacle,
inspired by the Rugrats,
summer was all year round,
I kept whatever I found,
I didn’t know any better,
my life was brighter than a Polo sweater,
when I had no phobia,
Childhood was like a little Utopia.
Take me back.
