Wishing for Amnesia MAG

Memories marred by the attempts to delete them,
She doesn’t know what really happened anymore.
The Incident becomes incidents become “it happens all the time.”
Now all she knows
Is that it happens all the time.

Denial becomes excuses becomes I’m sorrys and
“What do you want me to do?”
It’s too late. She’s already afraid.

Afraid to be pitied,
She clutches her teddy bear, swallows her tears
And allows them to read her a story.

I love the way you ended this. It feels so nostalgic.

i agree....i love the ambiguity of the poem...it leaves alot of possibilities but the message of vulnerability speaks to all

Boredom instigates extreme creativity.
~Amoniel

"Bowing gratefully to all of my subjects, 'thank you. Thank you. The pleasure is mine." Nah, I'm just kidding. We're all kings together.'"
~Thesilentraven

This is so sweet, it really evokes vulnerability for me. I love the line "She clutches her teddybear, swallows the tears" It's beautiful, and vulnerable, and creates a strong mental image.

Thanks for sharing this :)

What's the point i wearing my favorite rocket ship underpants if no one asks to see them? -Calvin and Hobbes

i think that's the point. by now stating what the incident was exactly, it leaves it open to be interpreted

The first two paragraphs were really good. It seem though that you lost alot of people at the end.

"There remains a conflict between past pain and future desire, but pain is swallowed by desire."

That was really good. I like the fact that we don't know what the meaning is because it leaves it open for the reader to relate in many different struggles

I would rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not

I suppose your right, but all the same. the reactions people have all depends on how you word your opinion, and from my point of view the wording was openly insulting the poem and, in extent, the poet.

Worry is simply a misuse of the imagination.

this is another one of those poems that you should read over and over again to get the meaning. the type of poems that you would read over and over again obligingly. i like it. but i still dont know what the "incident" was...

i think that the concept of this poem is very thought out and real. although, i feel that it is a little cold and emotionless. of course, the subject of abuse is very cold, but you could've put more emotion into your poem. i think that you thought a little too hard about the poem and didnt really let the words flow easily from your heart. that's what poetry is; it's supposed to come from your heart. but, i do think that the complexity of it is nice.

Some secrets can hurt, but sometimes they keep you safe, but all secrets are found out sooner or later.

I'm going to tell the truth. I never liked poetry. It has to be really nice for me to read one. and I got to say, I loved this.
