My Mistake
Tears don’t slip down my cheeks
They cascade
An angry waterfall
Burning my soft skin
But it’s nothing to you
And the pain you cause me
With your dark, twisted games
And your misguided ways
Proving me wrong at every turn
Proving them right with every word
Maybe I expect too much
But is it bad to want a little love
In return for everything I give
And the big nothing I receive
I could handle that
Just not you with her
Not her, anyone but
Not the girl who’s always won
One up the scores were never tied
Now you flaunt it in my face
Never laying a hand on me
But torturing me all the same
