Abuse-Who Hurts More?
A dirty, ragged cat
with matted curls
and gashes, spewing blood
Meows to strangers
as they simply pass by
unaware of the mess before it
cell phones to their ears
and bags hanging across arms
this animal
is found
only by a girl
that understands her torture,
and endless pain
death seeming closer every second
the girl
resembles her in a way
feeling the torment over
and over
by an angry father
she tenderly cuddles
her only companion
while the deception of her past
lingers over her head
and lures her towards memories
that wont let her go
at the oh so familiar home
flashbacks replay in her mind
till she is close to fainting
then the kitten stirs
and snaps her to reality
Although SHE has left,
this memory will stay
