When life gives you lemons, make apple juice and let the world wonder HOW!!

I worked hard
To earn money
For my son's education

After long days in the fields,
I realized I had enough money
For my son's education

We packed our bags
And started off
For my son's education

As we left, a white man came
And took away my money
My money, earned
For my son's education

It was my owner, a man as white as snow
He doesn’t care
For my son's education

What does it matter?
An education for us Negros
As dark as black shoe polish

The snow white man takes my money
That was the first time my boy had seen me cry,
For my son's education

This was a poem that i wrote in reflection to a story that i had heard of someone during the Jim Crow era.
