Inside The Lines
If I opened a box,
Of new wax shiny crayons,
Of my life,
What would I find?
The red of harsh sunburn,
Of crushed autumn leaves,
Of cheeks blushing softly,
Sunset’s subtle gleam.
Orange of starfish,
Shells lost on the beach,
Of sparkling campfires,
Of smooth fuzzy peach.
The yellow of starlight,
Of sparkler’s quick dance,
Of wasp’s stinging puncture,
Of candle’s romance.
The bright green of summer,
The dots on a skirt,
The banned grass of elders,
The stains on a shirt.
The blue of the ocean,
The calm of the sky,
The shadows of darkness,
The sclera of eyes.
Rich purple from flowers,
From monarchs and kings,
From grape juice and berries,
From amethyst rings.
Remember the colors,
The hues mixed and swirled,
For these very moments,
Now color your world.
