It's never to late, if it weren't for the last minute many things would never get done!

The words flow through my head,
beautiful descriptions,
pieces of dialogue,
interrupting my thoughts,
until I can't stand it anymore.
I take out a pen,
some paper,
sit down to write,
But I’m at a loss for what to say.
No ideas for story plots,
no interesting questions to research,
nothing for me to write down.
I have all the words,
but no way to write them.
I have all the thoughts,
but no way to form them.
I can’t put together,
all those wonderful words,
flowing through my head.
I try to write down those words,
That are filling my mind,
and am rewarded with random letters,
filling the page.
I crumple the paper,
And throw it away,
Starting afresh on a new piece.
Repeating this process,
again and again,
until finally putting away my pen,
standing up to stretch.
No luck for me today,
no proof of my labour.
I heave a heavy sigh,
and the same thought fills my head,
as it always does
when I have nothing to be read:
How am I to become an author,
when the words are wild,
never obeying me?
How will anybody ever see,
the words that are always a part of me?

The author's comments:
I had a day like this, where I had the words but just couldn't write, and the next day thinking back on it inspired me to write this. I know writers block is more common, where you can't think of anything at all, but this is what I was feeling, so I hope same people can relate.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear your feedback although i was wondering if you could be more specific on the "last few lines". How many is a few?

I've definitely felt this many times before, and I think the way you described the feeling was really good. I thought that right in the last few lines of the poem you lost the flow a bit, but I still really like it.

Thanks! I actually thought people might criticize me on not being creative as there is so many pieces on writer's block so I'm glad to hear the opposite!

Thanks! That was one thing I noticed too, it didn't flow to well, after I put it out.

Hello. I made a comment on the forums and you asked me to critique this so here goes:

First of all, I know this feeling very well and so I appreciate reading the work of some that I share this commonality with. The poem itself is interesting, your word choice is good. I feel that the meter needs work, (if you are planning to use one,) and that it flows a little too choppily. Overall I am impressed with the piece and think that it has excellent potential to astutely express the scenario you wish to portray. I hope that if you revise it you will choose to incorporate a rhythm to help move the poem. Great job and congrats on your originality.

Wow, that was good!

You'd never think of using that as a topic, but it works perfectly for what you wrote.

"Dear God," she prayed, "let me be something every minute of every hour of my life. Let me be gay; let me be sad. Let me be cold; let me be warm. Let me be hungry...have too much to eat. Let me be ragged or well dressed. Let me be sincere - be deceitful. Let me be truthful; let me be a liar. Let me be honorable and let me sin. Only let me be something every blessed minute. And when I sleep, let me dream all the time so that not one little piece of living is ever lost." - Betty Smith (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn)

I can't believe no one has commented on this one!! It is very creative, and I can completely relate to it. (I especially love the last 5 lines).
