That picture of you and me on the fridge
Grandpa - Grandson
I remember that day
Watching the family play baseball
I don’t remember who won
But we were smiling, so it must have been good
We live, only on that fridge
And in memory
You weren’t always there
You spent most of your time
tucked somewhere, out of sight
I never really noticed
We lived on different sides of the country
You were
Never there to greet me when I came home
or ask me how my day was
But you were a teacher
Mr. Linguistics
you understood many languages
and loved them all
You loved what you did
So in plain English let me tell you:
I wish we had more
Than just a picture
More than just a shared name
And hear this:
The memories of you are few and cherished
And good-bye, Grandpa
One, final Good-bye

this is really a meaningful poem, i truly like how you took the "picture on your fridge" and gave it the meaning you thought it should have. Great job!
