On Neapolitan Pizza
Crust with no more crunch than a soft pretzel,
forged by the original iron smiths,
is an improper compensation for this two-hour trek
from Rome. The inverted dough UFO traps two cups
of chunky lava, spotted with yellow mozzarella
that remind me of how Pompeii ended.

as she tears into the awkward slice, but I would rather die
from the scorch of the underrated two-dollar price
of my New Jersey hometown.
