Dad, You Were Right
Dad, you were right
Should I lie and say you were wrong?
I'll tell the truth and that is you
Told the truth all along
I tried to prove you otherwise
I believed my own lies
You said I couldn't, but I didn't listen
I just reached for the skies
Even graduated early, determination was strong
That was just a moment, now I know
I was wrong all along
And Dad, you were right
Down here is where I belong
Ignoramus, little idiot is all that resides
With circuits fried, inside a shell of nothing
Where my stupidity hides
The world would be brighter
If I just up and died
Then, Dad, would you be happy
Would I finally get it right?
Would you be proud of your daughter
Forever out of your sight
Now you can gloat, can sit around and look smug
Dad, you'll be glad to know
All along I was wrong
