How I Shake It Off
I pretend like it's nothing,
but the insults keep coming.
On the outside, I don't show it,
but deep inside, it hurts a bit.
This is how I shake it off.
I might run my fingers over the ivory keys,
or eat one too many cherry jubilees.
I could fight right back,
or have a good snack.
This is how I shake it off.
I've been taught to turn the other cheek,
But I could be called a pipsqueak.
I could drown myself underwater,
but I want to live to have a daughter.
This is how I shake it off.
I've decided to take it in without a word,
although to others, it might seem a little absurd.
But I've already made up my mind- So there!
So keep your nose in your own affair.
This is how I shake it off.
