The Butterfly Project
The butterflies rest on your skin
To help the healing begin within
You may be cracked or even broken
But you can always start again
Don't you see your beauty, your worth, your grace?
It saddens us so to see tears on your face
To know that you almost gave up the race
For in our hearts you have a special place
The mirror tells hideous lies
To your fragile and innocent eyes
But out of the societal demise
You shall defy the odds-- and rise
Any scars carved into your being
Create a bad image and are very deceiving
To the amazing you everyone else is perceiving
So trust me, we'll always be believing
In the precious value of what is you
No knife or pills will make the lies true
Being thick or thin is just a point of view
With one chance you can begin anew
So fly free and begin
To love the skin you are in
It is neither a crime nor a sin
To fight your battles and strive to win
