Independence
I’m going to get out of here,
I promise I am.
No more like the last time,
When my expectations were too high,
And my laziness overcame it all.
I need a plan for this life,
I now realize.
No more relying on adults,
For I am entering adulthood myself.
No more late party nights,
Or sleeping in and skipping work,
For this is a time for no more mistakes and second chances.
No more studying and learning about the real world,
For this is it, I’m living it.
No more eating greasy fries whenever I feel like it,
For this body is only one and life depends on it.
No more living with parents,
It is time for a place of my own,
For love is around the corner, and marriage in sight.
No more procrastination,
For real life has no time machine to go back and make up lost time.
No more will I listen to the devil on my shoulder,
For he does not know what is best.
I am now and forever more, independent.
The way I live my days is how I live my life.
