she roars and she sways;
connective root systems torn
limb from limb.
turned masts within a sea of swollen leave;
he waits for an end to gales as
hostile march frost
chokes the blossoming azalea.

teaches many lessons."

The author's comments:
This poem reflects on masculinity in today's society. In my poem, "Father Time" represents masculinity and "Mother Nature" symbolizes femininity. The poem creates both imagery of nature and imagery of an altercation between a male and female. Just as time and nature are two forces that work together, society must find a balance between masculinity and femininity.
