House
House
Brett Joye
Villanelle
I was running fast through the hall
Nothing to be seen but a couple of candles.
I ran towards them as they grew tall.
The door knobs were crystal balls
And showed great luxury with those handles
I had been looking for a new land where no one would stall.
And started building on the greatest of them all
I created it on my own with a family picture on the mantle
But once I was done, I received a call.
Who is this, I ask, as a blur comes across the cell wall.
Why am I in here, I ask, a scandal?
I looked outside and the vandals started to brawl.
I went on with life and finally got out of the stall,
I was waiting downstairs and saw some vandals
Painting on the wall, so high they would fall.
I went on to finish my dream of a house so tall,
Walking around on Gucci sandals
By the pool with a waterfall,
Wouldn’t that be the best of all?
