I was inside my classroom, everything normal. Someone needed to go to the bathroom. But that was normal. What wasn't normal? It isn't normal that a teacher in the hallways tells you "Sorry, you can't leave your classroom, you must stay inside". But that is exactly what happened. A teacher said that you couldn't leave the classroom. That's when our class went into chaos. Everyone was curious about what had happened. But no one brought up the subject until another unusual thing happened. Over the speakers came an anouncement, "Principal and vice principal, please come to the office immediately". That's when everyone knew something was wrong. People started brainstorming random ideas about what happened. But none were correct. At around 1:26 pm, another announcment came over the speakers, "This is your principal talking from the office, we need to attend to a students medical help. Do not panic and you are not in immediate danger. When the bell rings, please go immediately and directly to your 6th period class". Everyone went crazy, "What happened?", "What's going on?" When 6th period started, another announcement came, "Attention students and teachers, we will be sheltering in place until further instruction. No one is to leave their classroom". We continued with our class as normal until 6th period was almost over. Another announcment, "Students, please stay in your 6th period class. Teachers, await further instruction". I almost cried. It was also the last day with our 7th period teacher. I shared my sadness with my friend, in the same 7th period class as me. 6th period went on 20 minutes longer than it should have. Then, the last announcment of the day came, "Students, we are now planning an early dismissal. Please go out to the field and line up with your 6th period teacher." That's when me and my friends started freaking out. What happened? Why is this happening? What is causing this? The teacher then led us out onto the field, where people were getting dismissed when their parents arrived.

The next night, an e-mail went home. It said that it was confirmed that the victim, had passed away. No other information was given in that e-mail.

The day after that was when more information was released. An e-mail went home saying, that the victim had died of suicide. The identity of the student was also released. 

The next day at school, a temporary memorial had been set up in front of the flagpole where people could leave flowers and cards. The teachers read aloud a statement from the principal. It was a difficult day for many of my teachers. The teachers gave us all the support that we needed and told us to do what we needed to do. It was a tough day for many students as well. I learned that, we need to be a community, in order to heal and recover from this tradgic loss.
