It’s crazy how basketball started by someone shooting an odd shaped ball into a basket and now becoming one of the most popular sports in the USA. Also players get to do something they love and get paid millions of dollars.

The main reason I like basketball is because you can express your skill and bring out your teammates skill.

Basketball was first invented in 1891 by a 30 year old known as James Naismith. When it was first played in a local gym, they used baskets for hoops, and a ladder to get the ball after every made shot. There were 13 rules when the game was first invented. The game was mainly pass, score, and play defense. Of course, the game was very time consuming with having to get the ball out of the basket after every shot, so they made it to where there was a hole in the bottom of the baskets. Also to make it even less time consuming, they invented the backboard  so that more shots were made.

 Basketball became a national sport in Berlin in 1936. This sport gained popularity and more of the great players in the history of basketball started to play it. Later, the NBL and BAA formed the NBA.
