The piece in race relations called “I shouldn’t have to say this” by Justin Smalls is speaking facts about the mass amount of black deaths and the unfair treatment towards blacks. I can relate because I am black myself, meaning me and my family members have to constantly make sure we get home safe because of the police brutality and all the hatred blacks receive. I agree with the author when he said that they make it seem as if the victims of police brutality or racism, deserved to die. Because they always bring up criminal records that had no relation to their death. And when the author mentioned they didn’t feel safe around police officers is something I sadly can relate to. Whenever I witness police brutality online or on the news it makes me wonder if we can really trust the police, and wonders if we can rely on them to protect us. Overall I agree with the piece written because the author make valid points all people can agree to.
