August 2022 Fiction Contest: 'Guilt'
Emery tried her best to be a good wife, but the scars in my heart cannot ever be healed. She tricked me by acting as her identical twin sister and married me. No matter how hard I try, I cannot love her. I wanted to get rid of her someday. That day arrived when she wanted us to go hiking together. Annoyance took over me; then Joy made it vanish. I can be free!
That night, I pushed her off the cliff. My soul was dancing rejoicefully. But, I hid it with glycerin. I'm sorry, Emery, but I'm not that sorry.
